I've been to Paris and London. I love to dance. I am open to trying new things, most of the time. I adore most things British, especially British actors, and most especially particularly the British actress Helen Mirren, who is absolutely brilliant...  ....and an OSCAR WINNER!  I'm also a huge fan of Hugh Laurie, the astonishingly talented actor-musician-writer-director-comedian (& Golden Globe winner!):  Genius loves company...  Naturally, House is my new favorite tv show.  Other people who rock my world: Emma Thompson is hilarious, whip-smart and wicked-talented.  Sela Ward is a stunning and gracious Southern goddess.  (...and the star of one of the three greatest tv shows ever aired that were unfairly and prematurely cancelled -- Once and Again, Freaks and Geeks and My So-Called Life.)  Linus Roache is the epitome of soulful British decency and riveting cinematic angstiness.  Vanessa Redgrave and her gorgeous daughters Natasha Richardson and Joely Richardson are the acting dynasty to end all acting dynasties.  Woody Allen is a filmmaking genius.  Maggie Smith is the grand-damiest of all the grand British acting dames.  Barbra Streisand is a diva-licious singing sensation.  Damian Lewis is my favourite Red-headed Brit. ♥   (See the rest of my Helen pictorial tribute here.) I'm an ink-stained wretch.  "Can't repeat the past?" he cried incredulously. "Why of course you can!" If I could travel back in time, I would like to visit: The Jazz Age  and the Edwardian Era  We all turned and looked around for Gatsby. It was testimony to the romantic speculation he inspired that there were whispers about him from those who had found little that it was necessary to whisper about in this world. Things I want to do before I die: See the Pyramids. Ride on a Vespa through the streets of Rome. Learn French and Italian. Take the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul. Finally learn to swim. I do NOT ever plan on having any children. Child worship is the American woman's gross national product. She thinks she's the sexiest creature on earth, but sexy women have better things to do than swarm over children. They are more like Queen Victoria, who, far from being repressed and frigid, possessed that rare form of female maturity that enables a woman to love a man more than a child. In a letter to her oldest daughter she freely admitted: "I often grudged you children being always there, when I longed to be alone with dearest Papa. Those are always my happiest moments." American men are desperate for women like this, but what they get is a self-inflated neurotic growling Joan Crawford's signature line: "I'll do anything for those kids, ya hear me? Anything!" -- Florence King Commit an act of loving kindness, adopt a celebrity! Here are my adoptees (glorious free spirits, every one):   I'm that person in video stores who goes up to strangers and recommends movies.
